The goal of the training is to train and support lawyers from all over Serbia, who already have experience in the field of human rights protection, that is, the acquisition of specialized knowledge and skills for proper representation of trafficked victims in criminal, civil and other proceedings before domestic and international courts.
The program includes the following topics: what is human trafficking and how it is defined in the legislation of Serbia and the EU; how the trafficking process works; trauma, psychological and health consequences of human trafficking; communication between the lawyer and the victim; why the victim should (not) participate in the proceedings; the position and rights of victims in domestic and international law; the testimony of the victim at the main trial; special status of children; victim assistance services; compensation of trafficked victims in criminal and civil proceedings. These topics are covered through presentations, discussions, case studies, role-play workshops and simulations of different stages of the trial, and the lecturers are renowned experts in the field of trafficking, victim assistance, advocacy, psychology, sexual abuse of children and child rights.

This training is intended for graduate students, as well as final year law students who have passed the criminal procedure law course, and the main goal is to train future lawyers and provide theoretical knowledge in the field of human rights protection, specialized knowledge in the field of combating trafficking in human beings, as well as practical skills for monitoring trials for the crime of trafficking in human beings, but also related crimes.
The two-day training program covers the following topics: what is human trafficking and how it is defined in international and national legislation; how the trafficking process works; what is the national referral mechanism; trauma, psychological and health consequences of trafficking in adults and children; position and rights of victims in domestic and international law; position and rights of victims of trafficking and related crimes in criminal proceedings through a review of the monitoring of the case law; special position of children and the principles of child justice; victim assistance services; the effectiveness of measures in detecting and proving the crime of trafficking in human beings; as well as a practical session on monitoring and reporting on trials in criminal proceedings for the crime of human trafficking and related crimes.
The methodology of this training is interactive and practice-oriented, these topics are covered through presentations, discussions, case studies, role-play workshops, and the lecturers are renowned experts in the field of trafficking, victim assistance, representation of victims of trafficking (including child victims), psychology, and child rights.
