In cooperation with the Judicial Academy, in the previous months, ASTRA realized four trainings for representatives of the justice system, who have contacts with victims of human trafficking in criminal proceedings, entitled “Responsible judiciary – Protection of victims of human trafficking in criminal proceedings”. These trainings aimed to strengthen their capacities in order to improve the position of this particularly vulnerable group in the institutions of the judicial system.

The trainings took place in four cities (Novi Sad, Belgrade, Niš, and Kragujevac) and were specifically intended for judges of higher and appellate courts who tried for KD from Article 388 of the Criminal Code, deputies of higher and appellate prosecutor’s offices who are “contact points” or who worked on cases for the crime of human trafficking Art. 388 of the Criminal Code, and to the lawyers who represented the injured victims of human trafficking in these cases. A total of 72 participants, of which 32 judges, 35 prosecutors, and five lawyers, underwent training.

These educational events were organized as part of the project ” Justice and dignity for human trafficking victims” with the support of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at the Embassy of the United States of America in Serbia.
