NGO ASTRA – Anti Trafficking Action strongly condemned the attack on the photo reporter of Blic Daily Jovan Jarić, which took place in front of catering establishment “Kolasinka”. Two days ago, the owners of this establishment were sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison for human trafficking.
ASREA reminds that On April 22, 2008, the Novi Sad District Court made a first-instance judgment for human trafficking on a trial where the victim was represented by a lawyer appointed by ASTRA. The court pronounced the following sentences:
- Ljiljana Djurić was found guilty of the crime of human trafficking, Article 388, Paragraph 6 in connection with 1 and 3 of the Criminal Code of Serbia and sentenced to six years in prison;
- Dušan Manojlović was found guilty of the crime of human trafficking, Article 388, Paragraph 6 in connection with 1 of the Criminal Code of Serbia and sentenced to five years in prison;
- Radoje Djurić was found guilty of the crime of human trafficking, Article 388, Paragraph 6 of the Criminal Code of Serbia and sentenced to two years in prison;
- Radoslava Djurić was found guilty of the crime of human trafficking, Article 388, Paragraph 6 of the Criminal Code of Serbia and sentenced to two years in prison;
- Gordana Djurić was acquitted.
NGO ASTRA once again calls on state authorities to recognize the size and seriousness of human trafficking problem as a form of organized crime, whose victims, although rescued from the trafficking chain, are still faced with threats and bullying by criminals. Unfortunately, this time Jovan Jarić, photo reporter of Blic Daily has become their victim.
