ASTRA is pleased to present the new publication, “Prevention of Human Trafficking for Labor Exploitation and Protection of Foreign Workers in Serbia: A Proposal for Public Policy Improvement.”
The publication offers a comprehensive overview of current trends and challenges related to foreign workers in Serbia, focusing on the prevention of human trafficking for labor exploitation and the protection of foreign workers.
It covers:
- Data collected from the Ministry of the Interior, the National Employment Service, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighting key findings;
- Observed challenges in the treatment of foreign workers in Serbia over the past 5 years;
- Additional challenges: Open Balkan, seasonal workers, the position of women in labor migration, the relationship between temporary employment agencies and workers;
- A good practice example: a ruling by the Higher Court in Šabac from 2023, confirmed by the Appellate and Supreme Courts, which can help better understand this criminal offense;
- Opportunities opened by the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D);
- Observations and recommendations for improving the protection and integration of migrant workers in Serbia.
