On November 7, at the Tami Hotel in Niš, the International Conference on Capacity Building of the Protector of Citizens – Increasing the Access of Institutions to All Citizens, was held. This event brought together ombudsmen of the countries of the region, as well as representatives of relevant state institutions, international organizations and local governments and citizens’ associations to highlight the topic of protection of rights and freedoms of minority communities in the Republic of Serbia.
Special attention was paid to the independent monitoring of the fight against trafficking in human beings. At the invitation of the Office of the Protector of Citizens of the Republic of Serbia, ASTRA participated in the panel of the same name, presenting the current situation in the field of combating trafficking in human beings, as well as the regional project Balkan Acts Now (BAN III). and advocacy activities to date to establish a National Rapporteur – an independent body for monitoring and reporting on the situation of trafficking in human beings.
