ASTRA took part on the side event “Legal Protection of Trafficked Persons” on the OSCE conference “The Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM)”, which was held in Warsaw from 21 September to 2 October. This conference is organized every year as a platform for 57 OSCE participating States, Partners for Co-operation, OSCE structures, civil society, international organizations and other relevant actors. ASTRA’s representative spoke at the side event organized by NHC (Netherlands Helsinki Committee) about the legal protection of trafficked persons. Speakers at the event, except ASTRA’s representative, were Marjan Wijers, a Dutch expert on the subject of human trafficking and Natasha Dobreva, a Bulgarian lawyer who provides legal aid to trafficked persons. They presented the results of national researches and the analysis of the position of trafficked persons in court proceedings and informed the audience about future steps in the area of education and advocacy.
