From 9 to 13 February this year, a regional networking and exchange meeting titled “Holding the Line and Moving Forward: A Collective Response to Gender Backlash” was held in Skopje.
The five-day gathering brought together several dozen representatives of different organizations from across the Western Balkans. During the program, participants exchanged experiences regarding the current challenges organizations face in their respective communities. They also presented their own practices and reflected on what has proven effective in their work so far and what has not. Special attention was given to improving strategic communication, strengthening cooperation with the media, and building new alliances.
The meeting also focused on joint advocacy, preventing further pressures on women’s rights, and developing concrete regional steps for the period ahead.
One of the key conclusions was that solidarity, mutual support, and coordinated action are crucial at a time when organizations are facing various forms of pressure. Joint reflection on strategies and strengthening regional cooperation were recognized as important mechanisms for safeguarding achieved rights and advancing the struggle for gender equality.
The event was organized with the support of the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation.
